Creation Care Team
We’re hoping to recruit a small team to help the church’s thinking and actions on taking care of the environment. Please speak to Jon or Rosie if this is something you’d like to be involved in.
Junior church helpers
The Junior church teaching /volunteer team is currently quite stretched and would value some extra help. Specifically, we need:
- Two leaders – one for the young people who are 10+ (a very lovely group of 4-5 young people who engage well and make the task a real delight), and one for the creche – members of which are also a real delight!
- Three supporters – two for the 10+ group and one for the creche. Supporters do not need to do any preparation or lead sessions but are needed to comply with safeguarding requirements and to support the person leading.
We want to have a clear rota on a quarterly basis which ensures people know exactly when they are on duty and that it will not be too onerous. Please consider this request prayerfully and speak with Becky, Dulce or Myra if you feel you can offer time.
Volunteer to help rough sleepers this winter
Oxford Winter Night Shelter (OWNS) has begun – on Thursday nights at New Road.
Volunteers and guests are still welcome.
They’ve updated their website https://www.ownsoxford.org.uk/
and you can register easily online, or speak to Marion. Contact: email@example.com
Gifts of soap, shampoo, deodorants, toothpaste, toothbrushes, sanitary products, lip balm or skincare items would be very welcome. Please leave these in the red tub to the rear of the chapel
Please note that the church kitchen will out of action for about three weeks starting from the weekend of 9 February for renovation work. During this period the kitchen will not be accessible at all, and absolutely EVERYTHING will need to be cleared out in advance. We shall aim to make alternative arrangements for after-church coffee, Open Church, and other ongoing activities, though it may not be possible to accommodate all needs. We may need some volunteer assistance to relocate crockery etc during that weekend; please would you let Robert Blyth or Erica Woodward know if you might have some availability then. Thank you in advance for your understanding.
